PRODUCTION AREA: Estate vineyards in the southern hills of Montalcino.
VARIETY: 100% Sangiovese

The selected grapes are vinified in Horizon hybrid stainless steel/wood tanks, with an average maceration and partially in large oak barrels, followed by an additional 6 months in bottle before release.

A super-classic of Montalcino and Banfi. A wine able to match the elegance and solidity of its elder counterpart with a freshness and directness that make it one of the most versatile wines within Banfi’s offer. Very enjoyable when released, it is also suitable for a long aging.

An ideal match with medium-aged cheese.

In 1978 John and Harry Mariani, owners of the U.S. wine importer Banfi Vintners, established the award winning vineyard estate and winery Castello Banfi in the Brunello region of Tuscany. A constellation of single vineyards located on ideal sites cover about one third of the 7,100 acre (2,830 hectares) estate. The remaining land consists of bucolic meadows, olive and plum groves, and woodland. Central to the property is a medieval castle that functions as a hospitality center, hosting visitors at a full service restaurant, and museum dedicated to the history of glass and its relation to wine.
